Charging the Mercedes-Benz EQE Electric Sedan

Everything Mercedes-Benz EQE Drivers Need to Know About Charging an Electric Vehicle

The new 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQE is an all-electric sedan as part of the new EQ electric sub- brand by Mercedes. The EQE is the electrified version of the E-class Mercedes and measures slightly smaller than the EQS. Due to its size and expected price, the EQE slots nicely to fill the gap between the Tesla Model 3 and Model S.

This luxury electric sedan features a more spacious cabin than its gasoline-powered counterpart and impressive tech features such as 56-inch-long Hyperscreen. This Hyperscreen is a giant display that spans the whole dashboard and consists of three separate screens (the gauge cluster, central touchscreen, and the passenger-side touchscreen), making the sedan look ultra-futuristic.

Mercedes-Benz EQE Charging & Range

The EQE is expected to come in two trim levels: the rear-wheel EQE 350+ (estimated $70,000) and all-wheeldrive EQE 500 (estimated $85,000). The EQE 350+ generates 288 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque from its single electric motor in the rear. The all-wheeldrive EQE 500 will come with a second electric motor powering the front wheels, producing a combined 402 horsepower.

The 90 kWh battery in the EQE promises to provide up to 300 miles of range, which most likely will drop slightly in the all-wheeldrive version of the sedan. According to Mercedes, the EQE can charge from 10-100% in about 9.5 hours with a 240V electric vehicle charger. The charging time for the EQE is significantly reduced to 30 minutes when using a DC fast charger up to 170 kW.

To take full advantage of fast home charging, Mercedes EQE owners will want to install a 48-amp home EV charger, such as the JuiceBox 48, which has a standard J1772 plug that works with any electric vehicle on the market.
