eMotorWerks is providing electric vehicle charging stations for the electric utility Xcel Energy that operates in multiple states and has rolled out a two-year pilot program open to 100 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. The goal of the program is to prepare the regional grids for the expected increased demand created by charging electric vehicles.
Under the program terms, the customers will receive lower charging rates under a time-of-use rate plan. eMotorWerks’ JuiceNet cloud platform will provide the utility with a dynamic demand response management solution that relies on the real-time market data and hence can identify peak energy demands.
