Honda will pay EV owners to charge when energy demand is low

Honda is launching a SmartCharge program enticing customers to further reduce their carbon footprint by paying them money for participating in charging events.

Through cloud-to-cloud communications, the program learns when electricity demand is low and when renewable energy availability is high, and notifies EV drivers via the HondaLink EV app. Initially the program is available to select drivers of Honda Fit EV in southern California, but based on the results could be expanded to more locations and vehicles.
