Enel, a large European power company, acquires eMotorWerk as a part of their strategic plans to aggregate electric vehicles for grid services, which is the third acquisition of a U.S. company by Enel in 2017.
Greentech Media article explains that at the heart of the deal was eMotorWerks’ cloud-based energy services platform - JuiceNet - which optimizes electric vehicle charging with real-time electricity rates and availability of renewable energy on the grid. It also provides remote access control, real-time and historic energy usage tracking, and participatation in grid services.
