Charging the Mini Cooper SE Electric Vehicle

Everything Mini Cooper SE Drivers Need to Know About Charging an Electric Vehicle

As one of the most affordable electric vehicles currently on the market, with a starting price of just over $30,000 (excluding any tax incentives), the Mini Cooper Electric is a great entry-level EV. Based on the iconic two-door Cooper hardtop, this small hatchback EV is enough for those who commute shorter distances, but a little tight on room and range for longer distances or more than two passengers.

The Mini Cooper Electric is available in three trim levels: Signature ($30,750), Signature Plus ($34,750), and Iconic ($37,750). The base model Mini Cooper EV offers standard features such as dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, LED lighting, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

The 2023 model of this electric Mini Cooper includes a special edition named the Resolute Edition. This edition includes Rebel Green paint, a white roof, and mirror caps, as well as bronze stripes on the hood. The Resolute Edition comes with 17-inch wheels and sport seats for the driver and front passenger.

Mini Cooper SE Charging & Range

The Mini Cooper SE features a front-wheel drive electric motor that sources power from a 28.9-kWh battery and produces 181 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. With an estimated electric driving range of 110 miles on a full charge battery pack, the Mini Cooper Electric falls short of other small EVs such as the Bolt EV and the Nissan Leaf. The battery is, however, capable of fast charging on the go and can be charged to 80 percent in about 35 minutes with the right Mini Cooper electric charger. To take full advantage of fast home charging, Mini Cooper SE owners will want to install a 32-amp home EV charger, such as the JuiceBox 32, which has a standard J1772 plug that works with any electric vehicle on the market.
