Charging the Mercedes-Benz EQB Electric SUV

Everything Mercedes-Benz EQB Drivers Need to Know About Charging an Electric Vehicle

As part of Mercedes’ new lineup of electric vehicles, the EQB, based on the gasoline-powered GLB-class SUV, is among the first models of the new EQ electric sub-brand. This futuristic, all-electric compact SUV can seat up to seven and will be available in two models: the EQB300 and the EQB350 4Matic. The EQB300 has a 225-horsepower electric motor on the front wheels that produces 288 lb-ft of torque. The EQB350 takes it a step further with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces 288 horsepower and 324 lb-ft of torque.

When it comes to tech, the new MBUX infotainment system in the EQB offers touchscreen, voice command, and steering wheel controls for audio, navigation, and other functions. The EQB also includes standard driver assistance features such as lane-keeping assist and automated emergency braking.

Mercedes-Benz EQB Charging & Range

With a 420V, 66.5-kWh battery, the range of the EQB should be close to the Audi Q4 e-tron and Volkswagen ID.4. More information will be released as the on-sale date gets closer towards the end of 2022. The Mercedes-Benz EQB takes about 7.5 hours to charge from 10 to 100% with a 240V electric vehicle charger. If you’re planning on taking a longer road trip, the EQB is capable of fast charging up to 110 kW and will charge from 10 to 80% in around 32 minutes, according to Mercedes. Moreover, being a true EV, the built-in navigation features “Electric Intelligence” which factors maximum charging power and duration of charging stops into route recommendations.

To take full advantage of fast home charging, Mercedes EQB owners will want to install a 48-amp home EV charger, such as the JuiceBox 48, which has a standard J1772 plug that works with any electric vehicle on the market.
